Edition #72 "Wind Spirit"
Hi there, here's another edition of heshphoto's "hi-five friday". On the first Friday of each month we like to share five of our images that make us
...happy...

This month, March being windy AF (at least where we are), we have decided to share some images from a brand-new fine art collaboration between Eliza and me. In fact, it is still such a work-in-progress that we don't even have a "working title" yet, so feel free to send any thoughts or ideas!

The core concept is of a ceremonial invocation of elemental spirit through movement. We are exploring the interplay between the body and the energetic force, in this case, "Wind." Eliza’s movement is a sort of summoning, awakening, building of elemental energy: motion as a deep memory, realized as an untaught ritualistic dance in one fluid movement. She is dissolving the experiential illusion of a separation between the body and the energy.

As photographer and witness, i attempt to encourage and further enhance the expression with my technical choices, my composition, and my own interaction with the innate, inherent, environmental force. Each shoot (ceremony) is conducted with deliberate attention to time and place. These images were shot on Halloween in the Mojave. The project is also somewhat of a joint love letter to the southwestern United States, as each element is being explored across the region, starting close to home in Joshua Tree, California.

Thanks for looking and have a happy first Friday!
Now, go out and buy/make/see some art.

Cheers,
H
